Real audio files are easier to stream and the files are usually much smaller
(very important for those of us paying for storage space and/or bandwidth).
For those of us putting up samples or snippets or records for sale it's even
more important that its not as good quality...if someone hears something
they like on realaudio they are more likely to go buy it. With an mp3
sometimes the quality is so good there's little incentive to go buy
it...just keep the mp3 (or burn it back to CD). That's one reason why record
labels hated napster and love (or at least tolerate) real audio.

if I may ask, what does everyone see in realaudio? The majority of music
files I see on this list are .ram files. I'm personally not a big fan of
anything realaudio, the software is kludgy and I don't think there's any
open source software do encode or decode the files.
What benefits does real audio files have over MP3's?

p.s. I do not wish to start any type of flame wars, I'm just curious.
Honesty I could care less what anyone uses to encode/decode their music ;)
