    RealAudio isn't better for sound quality obviously but it is better for
    streaming sound audio to people who may not have the capacity to MP3 (in
    download times). The other good thing about RealAudio is that it is more of
    a promotional tool than MP3 is... RealAudio has much better streaming
    capabilites than the WMP (because the Windows Media Player doesn't even work
    on the Mac like it does for the PC whereas RealAudio does which IMO is
    limiting your audience).

    A good reason for RealAudio is that you can't modify the files easily (or at
    all) through decoding or re-encoding or segmenting, it's just one file and
    ready for the listener.

    RealAudio files are quite small than their MP3 cousin and take less time to
    encode too... :)
