The Crate Soul Brothers (formerly known as Keyser & Shuriken) newsletter #67:
Alone again so
Newsflash 04.10.2001
Dear friends,
Here we are again after some very hard weeks. Our little personal world changed
totally: just a week ago Shuriken has moved to London to study there cultural
studies for a year. Keyser misses him already, as he has to struggle alone in
this messy Hungarian music biz. Shuriken has still hard times too, so if you
want to cheer him up, you can send him a mail to the following addresses:
so101gv@gold.ac.uk or valyig@freemail.hu.
By the way, we have to make it clear why we changed the newsletter's name to
Crate Soul Brothers newsletter. We found out this name about a year ago for our
new project that has been supposed to grow and mutate as "a collective of
musicians and producers getting high on jazz, soul, funk and disco." As now
Gabor aka Shuriken is away, Tibor aka Keyser has to rely more and more to the
other good guys of town like Ambrus aka Erik Szamovar (in producing music), dj
Leengum (in the radio show) or dj Suhaid (in promoting events). So now the
newsletter mutate and grow as a mirror of Budapest's tiny but lovely scene,
while Shuriken will provide the news of the musical hot spot of Europe.
Back in a few days Keyser had the chance to spin some records in Vienna together
with our old friend Enes Haracic from deepest Sarajevo. He and his brother Emir
are real institutions of the Bosnian scene: they run the underground Radio 3
station, where you can listen to the best tunes and mixes available worldwide.
It's really worth to check out their simple but powerful homepage, where you can
listen to some wonderful mixes you cannot find elsewhere in the cyber-universe:
www.radio3.ba. And although there are no quality record shops in Sarajevo yet
(no wonder: Enes will be the very first to open it soon), he has all the finest
new and old tunes in his bag he needs to make the crowd crazy! Respect! Also big
up again to "Tomatschek" Wieland of the Les Gammas fame who once again showed
that there is not another such a friendly and helpful person in existence like
him (just the one and only Alan "Cukipapa" Brown, who in a few days will move to
Vienna as well). We miss all of you!
So while hopefully some better days are coming, this week's short reading goes
about the very similarities between music and pain:
"Two of the most important similarities are that both can be classified as
sensory input and output. Sensory input means that when music is heard, the
signals sent to the brain are sensorily as real as signals sent to the brain
when pain is felt. Sensory output comes from the limbic system, which is usually
considered the site of emotional synthesis. If the vibration of music can be
brought into close resonance with the vibration of the pain, then the
psychological perception of the pain is altered and eliminated."
Found on "MUSIC THERAPY AND PAIN MANAGEMENT" <http://www.mtabc.com/pain.html>
Keep on eliminating your pain with music till next week!
