The bassline is from Marvin Gaye's "Innercity Blues" but the actual sample
was played by Reuben Wilson. All three tracks are incredible! In fact, if
you can find the Sarah Vaughn cover of it, it's actually even better! :)

-- "...beginning in the fourteenth century, the clock made us into time-keepers, and then time-savers, and now time-servers. In the process, we have learned irreverence toward the sun and the seasons, for in a world made up of seconds and minutes, the authority of nature is superseded." -- Neil Postman -- http://www.geocities.com/mr_cevallos/>From: "James Baker" <jameslucasbaker@yahoo.com> >To: <acid-jazz@ucsd.edu> >Subject: Tribe Called Quest sample >Date: Sat, 6 Oct 2001 13:18:16 -0400 > >Hello, > >I don't know if anyone can help... > >These days, whenever I listen to the hip hop I grew up on, I find I >recognise samples that were used (even though I had no idea where they came >from at the time). > >Anyway, I was listening to People's Instinctive Travels the other day, and >the bass line on Youthful Expression was sounding really familiar, but I >couldn't quite place it. > >Does anyone know what I'm talking about? > >Thanks in advance for any tips. > >James > > > > >_________________________________________________________ >Do You Yahoo!? >Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com >
