The other thing that's worth noting is that U.S. releases of imported
albums tend to have extra cuts--be it new tracks, remixed tracks, or a
combination. It could be a handful, or it could be a dramatic shift.
One of the best examples for me is the album from Dmitri From Paris
called "Sacre Bleu." Our station received it from Astralwerks, which
distributed the album domestically. The album was originally released in
Europe and it took about 1 1/2 years before the U.S. version came out.
Some folks from the station and I went to the Coachella music festival
in April, and we drove there with tons of music. One of the guys had the
European version of "Sacre Bleu," and let me tell you that it was a
totally different album than the U.S. version--and, in my opinion, far
superior.
I'm not certain how the Zero 7 domestic will differ. I shall find out
what I can. My point is that sometimes even U.S. releases can have
extras not on the original European release. Sometimes, there may be
enough new goodies to justify the worthiness of making such a purchase
all the more compelling. But we'll have to wait and see.
