hey there!
A little reminder that glide happens tonight, and every Wednesday. This
evening, we're proud to be screening SPINSTERS, a documentary about
women DJ's. The 50 minute film, by Jackie Pelle and Jane Walker, screens
at 10pm and features women such as the UK's Marcia Carr, Americans DJ
Heather, Forest Green, DJ Shortee, Canadians Misstress Barbara, DJ
Nicole, Ray Prasad, DJ Wasabi, myself and many, many other fine folks.
After the screening, DJ's WASABI and RAY PRASAD join ANDREW ALLSGOOD and
I for a full-on eve of jazz, dub, house, UK garage, 'n wicked beats.
$5 donations at the door, with ALL proceeds going to support CKLN 88.1fm
and fundFEST 2001, the stations's annual funding drive. fundFEST happens
from this Friday October 26 to Sunday November 4; don't forget to tune
in to favourite shows and pledge what you can in support. CKLN relies on
listener support for 40% of its operating budget so every bit counts.
Thanks!!

and, just confirmed:
WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 5: NYC producer and DJ Nickodemus makes his Toronto
debut! I'm totally hyped about this one as he's someone who I've admired
and appreciated for some time. A brief bio follows. $ 8 at the door for
this one.
Nickodemus is a renaissance man who looks to the past to create earthy,
forward-looking grooves. As a DJ, he was resident at Giant Step NYC for
four years, and currently plays regularly in Vienna, Puerto Rico, and as
the decks ën effects manipulator in jazz percussionist Mino Cineluís
four-piece fusion ensemble. Nick also runs ëtings, with partner Mariano,
at Turntables On the Hudson, hugely popular pier parties that have
spawned a series of compilation CDís for their own RhythmLove Records.
Turntables on the Hudson 3 is a stunning collection of original dub,
beats, Latin + global grooves, dancefloor jazz and more. Essential, as
is Nickodemusí production work with Osiris, including their saxy,
Afro-Latin underground dancefloor smash "Free Souls" and remix of the
Latin Projectís "En Fuego" (both on Giant Step). His Toronto debut is
not to be missed! www.turntablesonthehudson.com www.rhythmlove.com
------------------------------------------------------------------------
on a separate, but related note....
I'll also be joining Marc de Breyne at his Electropical Thursdays
weekly, tomorrow evening (Oct. 25). We'll be keeping it sweet and deep,
having lotsa fun, and hopefully making YOU dance! This happens at
gorgeous new T.O. underground hotspot Lincoln (Linday Drew Fashions), at
431 Richmond St. W. No cover so no excuse :-) See ya!
Thanks for reading 'n being on this e-list. To add, alter or be removed,
simply send me a note. Take care!
