Yesp, I have know them since they started as a living room band back in
the late eighties, here in Mexico City. Actually, a lot of their first
(and, as far as I know only) album dates as back as those days. They were
part of a huge wave of political bands that mixed punkish ska with Mexican
music in those days. They were not by far the best of the movement, but
they hold their own and have somehow managed to survive this far. They may
be a little limited on their musical abilities (no virtuosos here), but
they have a great live show. I saw them a few times during their US tour
last year and they rocked everywhere they played, to a dominantly white
anglo audience, which probably missed the whole political element, but
danced and pogoed like I had never seen them in that part of the world.
They start their show very latin and finish very punkish. Nice people,
too.
