    Peace list headz,

without wanting to add too much to the fuel of the CD/Vinyl fire, which
seems to creep up to this list every 6 months to a year, I just want to
    say a few things:

    a. Those new pioneer CD players, that are discussed in the NYTimes
article, are INCREDIBLE. this is coming from a guy who spins strictly
vinyl . I seen them in action (those in NYC can go to Beat STreet in
the Fulton Mall to check em out) They have full tactility and
functionality of turntables. Even the scractching sounds good.
Very nice job they did, the manufacturers.

    b. Shame on you people! First ONE age-old debate shows his ugly head on
the list, which is the CDs vs Vinyl subject. And then you start throwing
in the "compilation/reissue vs. original recording" debate!!! What do
you want to do next, discuss techno vs. jazz? mixing vs. selection?
These are all circular debates... the ultimate answer to them all is that
MUSIC is what you HEAR & FEEL !
someone on this list had a frank Zappa quote in his sig which I love:
"Talking about music is like dancing about architecture"

    c. Another item mentioned in that article, which was nice to see, was
Final Scratch. If you remember our List noticed this software when it
first came out, round 1998 or so. It seemed like a pretty novelty item.
It's nice to see that it's been further developed and that it's robust
enough to handle Mr. Richie Hawtin rocking Centro Fly!
Nuff respect to those breaking the boundaries in software interfaces!!!

    d. Unfortunately I dont have it in front of me, but there's this fairly
recent Baby Mammoth single on Pork, which has a mid-tempo cut on the
A-Side. This has got to be my track of the year. So Beautiful! So reggae
influenced! So jumpy! Absolutely unbelievable track. seek it!

peace & musical elation to all

    Nat
