    :::mikebee - freecasting 01: chart & news - 9.18.01:::

hi there everybody. this is the first of what i hope will be a regular email
newsletter regarding my explorations into music, sent to my peers,
colleagues, friends and the artists and labels who are blowing my mind and
getting support from me through my DJ'ing, record label, radio shows (both
analog and digital), magazine reviews or club promotion. I wouldn't be here
doing this if it weren't for them, and they'll always be the focus. For
those of you who are hearing from me for the first time, there's a short bio
at the end of this message.

    top 20-something chart

Beatless - Life Mirrors (Opaque mix) - Ubiquity
Dom Um Romao - Lake of Perserverence (Opaque mix) - Irma
Plutonia - Forever (Opaque remix) - Visions
Homecookin' - forthcoming LP - Sole CDR
::Seiji is our man of the moment. After a storming week's worth of gigs
including Bottom Heavy here in SF, our cup runneth over with new goodness.
    Big ups to
Andrew Jervis @ Ubiquity for another classic Opaque remix as well.

    In-Flight - Melt - Zest
::the Zest label inspired some serious trainspotting among my circle of
friends this year and this newest release is no different. looking forward
    to more...

    D*Note - Waiting Hopefully (4 Hero instrumental) - Virgin
4 Hero - Hold It Down - Talkin' Loud
::further brilliance - 'hold it down' is rocking every dancefloor i play....

Nepa Allstars - The Way - Surplus
::although i sadly missed Charlie Dark's mindbending local appearance, i'm
still playing "The Way" on the regular. more, please!

John Tejada & Titonton Duvante - Coax - Palette
John Tejada & Abstract - untitled (CDR)
John Tejada & Arian Leviste - After the Dawn - Palette
::collaborations galore and excursions into non 4/4 territory are making me
stand up and notice, especially after John's wicked album on DeFocus.

Kaidi Tatham - Betcha (Landslide rmx) - Bitasweet
Soulstice - Fall Into You (Landslide rmx) - Om
Landslide - Hear My People (dub) - Hospital
::holy shit! Tim Land on the 2-step tip is blowing away the majority of
stuff in my sets (aside from Horsepower Productions). multilayered
    lusciousness.

Trouble Man - The Messenger - Far Out
::Mark Pritchard might possibly win track of the year from me inna 2K1 - the
chord progression in the middle section sends chills up my spine every time.

Kirk Degiorgio - Nairobi (original & Carl Craig mix) - New Religion
As One - Another Revolution (Stacy Pullen remix) - Ubiquity
As One - 21st Century Soul - Ubiquity
::As I've been a longtime fan of Kirk's, I was absolutely elated at his
signing with Ubiquity, being the home team and all. Mad, mad respect to Kirk
for his blinding album and superb return to techno, and a big smooch once
again to Andrew Jervis for the foresight to seek him out. Plus - Stacey
Pullen: what more could one ask for?

Dapp - First Off (dub version) - Omoa Music
::anyone who was at the Omoa party at the DEMF this year knows that this
label is going to be something special. after seeing Ayro live and picking
my jaw up off the floor, I couldn't wait for this first release. Scott Z. &
Matt C.'s tune is the one that's getting extra play in my sets, and it
brings the late-night flavor we love at Bottom Heavy.

Le Mans - Mi Novela Autobiografica (Kabuki remix) - Spectrum Works
Vikter Duplaix - Messages (Total Science vocal mix) - white
Plutonia - Wear Your Size - Visions
Afro Force - Goza (original) - 2000 Black
Brommage Dub - Dissolving Ultra Dub - Svek
Interfearence - Xtradition (Zero dB rmx) - Ubiquity
Dalunartikz - Higher (Afro beat mix) - Arthrob
    ::the best of the rest!
