  • Next message: Salvo Lorusso: "Bossa 'n' go - le deuxieme cocktail"

As mentioned previously, we're very pleased to present a special
radio mix from Zero dB and the Fluid Ounce label this evening. If
you're at all familiar with the label, you'll know what to expect and
if not, you're in for a real treat.

The only bummer is, there's an hour of new music that won't make the
cut this week and there's plenty of it too:

Black Cherry by Organic Grooves: OG give the dub rub to William
Parker & Hamid Drake's "Piercing The Veil" album and the result is
stellar. NYC underground deepness meets Middle Eastern
    percussion....sublime.

Zero 7 Remixes: We've got the hard-to-find Koop remix of "In The
Waiting Line," as well as "Distractions" re-worked by Bugz In The
Attic, DJ Spinna, Block 16, Idjut Boys and Madlib. Which one should I
    pick?

Block 16: "Morning Sun Remixed" - I've come to the conclusion that
dance music is the most ecological genre in the world. Why? Because
albums are constantly being recycled.....this can be a good thing,
but also a bad thing. Why worry about writing new songs, when you can
hand off your old ones to hot producers for a remix? This album falls
into both camps - some tracks truly benefit from a new
interpretation, while others are just so much wanking. We'll pick a
    good one.

Darkleaf : "F....The People" - Dark, abstract hip-hop from Los Angeles.

Random Logic: "Numrebs" - Minimalist techno from Slovenia that's
rhythmic and glitchy. Rumor has it they go out for brewskis with
    Laibach.

"Jazzanthrope: Authentic Smokin' Beats" - Jazz, drum & bass & funky
    downtempo from France

"Land Of Baboon III: Exploration Into The Illbient" - Brooklyn's in
the house with this outstanding compilation of dub, abstract beats,
jazz and stuff that I don't have a name for....yet.

The Maxwell Implosion: "Small Circle Of Friends" - This is the true
Ultra-Lounge...I have a sudden urge to run out and buy a smoking
    jacket, except I don't smoke.....

There's at least another 6-10 albums that I could mention, but
    there's always next week, right?

If you're listening live, be sure to stick around and find out how
you can win a pair of tickets to see Plaid at the Great American
    Music Hall on April 10th.

That's all for this week - ciao for now!
    David
