This thing has been massively misunderstood. The only scientifically-proven
quality of the SP-1200 that makes is unique is the 12-bit sample quality
(as opposed to the 16-bit sample quality of the MPC). If there's something
different about the "feel" perhaps the clock resolution is different from
the MPC. I know the MPC's clock resolution is 96 PPQ (pulses per quarter
note); but I don't know the PPQ resolution of the SP-1200 offhand.
