    Thursday 11.04
    to
    Thursday 18.04

    Dear all,

Pheew what an Easter!! Starting with One World Live on the Thursday...the Jazz-latinaries from Ubiquity Recordings had the San Francisco crew going big (as they do over there...) with over 200 promo CD's given away... and Andrew Jervis (label boss + dj) comes highly recommended in maximum doses!!! Friday & Saturday made no stop whatsoever...with the tall and beautiful Scando's out in force for Saturday's 'Skansen Music'. Big up to the Lazy Dog posse as well, as the queue was somewhat on the extensive side again....(up to six hours for some)...those inside however had no regrets, as the whole place went bananas, again!...

...You'd think we'd all be sunkissed and jaded by now,but there is no sleep for the wicked! The West London crew turned out in force on Monday 1st (fifth day of madness...) to witness the legendary Dj Spinna in action....Dego, Patrick Forge, Phil Asher, Seiji, Mark de Clive Love, Argee...you know the peeps.... And Spinna rocks!! Truly, truly, truly rocks!! Needless to say the above mentioned where dancing their socks off on the (for them) other side of the decks...16 bars of pure 7" old skool business on an impeccable string... Good thing we were closed the day after!

For future classics please read on....

    Friday 12.04. : Inspirationinformation : doors: 6pm-2am, entry free before 8pm, £6 after.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Residents: Phil Asher & Patrick Forge

Inspiration Information has been delivering a soulful start to the West London weekend for almost five years. Phil Asher and Patrick Forge touch base for a Friday night session that spans the spectrum of from jazz to latin funk to boogie, disco to house, hip-hop to broken beat. The sound of the night has evolved over the years, expanding into the fusion of "many styles", classic and contemporary that make an Inspiration Information session.

And now we're happy to be introducing another new aspect to Friday nights, an early session from 6-8pm, where an all female d.j. roster brings a different energy to start building the atmosphere for all those who can't wait to start the weekend. They might not be household names (yet!), but in the nearly always male dominated world of dance music it's difficult for girls to get a break sometimes, so we're happy to provide that opportunity. However we won't be having any budding female trance d.j.s in just for the sake of equal opportunities, the musical values of Inspiration Information remain the same.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Residents: Ben Watt & Jay Hannan

Anyone who can't make it to Naked Music's big beach party at the Miami Winter Conference, where Lazy Dog's Ben Watt and Jay Hannan top the bill with support from Miguel Migs, Dixon, Aquanote and Lisa Shaw (March 25), needn't feel too despondent. Some excellent local solace can be gleaned from yet another day-night celebration of the best in electric-charged deep house as Ben and Jay warm up and lay it down at their regular fortnightly spiritual London home, the nottinghillartsclub. Queues from 3pm... no kidding

    Monday 15.04. : Beachclub : doors: 6pm-1am, entry free before 8pm, £6 after.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Beachclub, the proud testament to the vast impulses of Scandinavian creativity, continues its weekly showcase of new photography, shortfilms, graphics and music from the cultural Valhalla that is Scandinavia. Beachclub has succeeded in creating a unique Monday night alternative, offering the crowd not only an impressive showcase of artistic excellence, but also an amicable and inspirational atmosphere.

Tonight Beachclub resident Pete Herbert and Lars Hinnerskov join forces with Dom Servini (Mouseorgan), Simon Goss (Version) and his brother Chris (Hospital Records) for a special one-off night celebrating the rare grooves of Scandinavia. Beachclub introduces the Wah Wahmoose label who is dedicated to releasing rare Norwegian jazz, latin and funk nuggets. An offshoot of the Wah Wah 45's label, all releases on Wah Wahmoose receive exclusive remixes from Norway's Espen Horne (The Bobby Hughes Experience, Stereo Deluxe) thus appealing to beat and jazz heads alike. Swedish photographer Sandra Freij first entered the
London scene with her 1999 project,"The Dialectical Fairyscene", presented at 291 Gallery. Her images have a strong theatrical reference to "room" and "figure" and question the notion of space and how one enters
it. Sandra will be showing her latest work at Beachclub - a series of images influenced by the capital around us and existing codes within imagery, time and space.

Tuesday 16.04. : SouthSideSoul goes West : doors: 6pm-1am, entry free before 8pm, £5 after

SouthSideSoul takes jazz, funk and soul grooves to South London every fortnightly Sunday, with resident DJ Dean Webb and guests including jazz master Nathan Haines of Bemsha! fame, Robert Barrett from Music Is. Records, Carbon Recordings' Chris Tubbs and the very best of visiting New Zealand talent, such as Manuel Bundy, Greg Churchill and Paper Recordings star Soane. Tonight, Dean Webb will join SSS favourites Robert Barrett and Jason Spencer behind the decks for a night of jazz-based house and soul-edged funk.Live action will be provided by world-class percussion player Williams Cum and NHAC regular Willams Cumberbache and his band, Tumbaito, presenting the tougher, urban face of Latin jazz fused with funk, rap, Afro-Caribbean rhythms and "descarga" (Latin jamming).

Wednesday 17.04. : Thee Acid Ranch : doors: 6pm-1am, entry free before 8pm, £4 after.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Residents: Must Destoy dj's Ian Johnson & Alan Hake
Live: Special surprise guests... sorry, can't say until week of show. suffice to say, its a warm up for an upcoming tour of venues bigger than ours.

The Acid Ranch rolls on packing in a music policy of 'anything goes' with residents Ian Johnson and Alan Hake. From garage-punk, freakbeat, fuzzy-funk, nasty guitar, stoner-mod, lo-fi breaks and low-down dirty soul, if its raw and fun, then it spins! Earlier in the night we'll be bringing you the Swedish tradition of 'pre-party', and single-handedly spearheading the 'nu-chillout' movement, with a couple hours of 'mellower' music for the cocktail hours. now... we're not talking about kitschy exotica here, just the kind of stuff that'll soothe yr soul or drop a tear in your beer.. John Barry, Hank Williams, Neu, Low, Phil Spector, Dusty Springfield. sort of like 'lounge music'... but only if yr lounge is piled high with 1000's of dusty 45's and empty bottles. ring any bells??

Thursday 18.04. : One World Live presents Future World Funk : doors: 6pm-2am, entry free before 8pm, £5 after.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Live: Mandragora & M'Boob M'Balahal
Residents: Russ Jones and Olivier Tison (Luminaweb)

Russ Jones brings back the groundbreaking club night Future World Funk to the nottinghillartsclub, as part of One World Live. This week the experts on all things Jazz and World music are joined by Mandragora and M'Boob M'Balahal.
Brightons Mandragora are at the forefront of a musical revolution. Not so much a traditional band but a network of musicians, producers, video artists and new media pioneers originating sounds that draw on both traditional world musical styles and the high technology of the techno/ dance scene. Ethnic instruments and real musicianship are at the core of the band as digital studio wizardry, both audio and visual, combine all elements to breathtaking effect. M'Boob M'Balahal (MBalahal means "play the drum") is a wonderful 6-piece band from Gambia. One female vocalist and 4 percussionists work around master drummer Musa Mboob who's also versed at "Taasu", indigenous African Rap. This combination of rhythmic drumming and Afro Rap has made M'Boob M'Balahal a household name in Gambia
