::: Cambion :::
Aaron Idris Quick aka Cambion, grew up in nearly every small town in
Western Australia, and started experimenting with sound at a pretty
early age. Originally playing guitar, he moved to the city of Perth,
and started playing in a band, but discovered he wasn't free to
experiment enough, so he left the band and started working as an
individual artist.
His first release was /uncomfort/, which is being featured on
tonight's show - it is a culmination of songs written over the last 3
years. Cambion has also had songs released on various compilations
and a forth-coming movie soundtrack ( Rent-a-Cop ). A new seven track
EP. is due any month now and is titled "ave you erd...Cambion" (all
the song tittles end in erd e.g. Berd, Herd, Terd etc...)
Nearly 400 copies of Cambion's /uncomfort/ release have been sold
purely by word of mouth and he encourages people to burn it for their
friends...
Cambion is relocating to Melbourne later this year so keep an eye out
for his name, performances and releases if you are on the East Coast
of Australia.
The music is rich and moving, some haunting and ghostly sounds,
conjuring up images of strong feelings involved in creating the
sounds. 'Disaster struck a forlorn embrace' suggests a sadness with
lilting melodies and a dark undercurrent weaving itself around the
beats. The release is a mixture of songs to listen to and songs to
dance to - 'Laudable Sideburns' and 'Sporadic Cheese.. (full lactose
mix)' have that nice dark edge and basslines to them that makes you
forget yourself for a moment on the dancefloor. 'Sentre (I adore
you)' and 'Sontag' can only be described as beautiful.

[quick note: I haven't been sending out promos for every week's show -
the shows are still (& have been) on! just means I do an impromptu
selection of songs instead of featuring a particular artist. the
playlists for each show are going up on the Pulse Radio forums, so
check them out if you are interested. thanks for your support!]
