Friends & Family,
Season's change and my DJ gigs are changing.
After 5 years, I've decided to move on from Ludlow Bar and take my musical
excursions to a space aptly named Karma.
No sour departure, just an opportunity to play in a space with a better sound
system and a very comfortable and classy décor.
Like many new parties, there is no lead time to properly promote an opening
night of this Monday (April 22nd)…so if you're able, stop on by, check out
the room & the sounds, and take a glimpse of the beginnings of another
incredible Monday night experience.
This Monday, I'll also be giving away about 25 of my mixed CD, perhaps even
the landmark 50th installment of Beats, Jazz, & Soul, my eclectic mixed CD
series. #50 a special number and a special mix entitled - "Make Life Better"
My complete thoughts on Karma are at the end of this e-mail.

sharing them with you in mind. Expect soul, jazz, rhythm & blues, latin

you've been looking for.
· WEDNESDAYS after work @ MICA BAR, Midtown
7pm-11pm, Lounge
Mica Bar, 252 East 51st Street (between 2nd & 3rd avenue)
Mica Bar is the spot for the people who work in Midtown who would like to
actually walk to a place where I'm playing after that long day at the office.
I bring the best of the eclectic downtown sound to the sometimes unjustly
perceived as un-hip Midtown…the East side even. No, not a haven for the
funkiest New Yorkers, look to the L.E.S. and ForteGreenBK for that, but still
a place where I can play whatever to a very open mined and international
crowd. Mica has 2 levels and plenty of seating for those with hurtin feet!
And very good sound…nice warm and bass heavy. BONUS: Mica Bar's second floor
features a retractable ceiling that's wide open during spring and summer
nights.
· WEDNESDAYS LATE NIGHT / SMF - Soul Music First @ Spa (the 2nd room),
Dancing, 12AM-4AM, FREE with flyer
Spa, 76 E. 13th St. (Between University & Broadway)
A nice late start for my late nighters who come to my early lounge gigs when
I'm packing up the tunes. Expect the unexpected regarding music but do
expect the music to be funky and soulful. This is the first party I've done
in a long time where people dance to anything and everything I throw on the
decks. All classics all night with a touch of deep house in the last hour.
This event is free if you have a flyer so come by and see me at one of my
gigs and I'll take care of you.

< THURSDAYS @ SX137, Lounge + Food, 8:30PM-11: 30PM
SX137, 137 Essex Street (between Stanton & Rivington)
This place has the best sound system that I have ever heard in a restaurant.
The place is wired to make you feel like you are in the speakers. Very warm
and clear sound system. A great place to have an inexpensive meal and sit
back and enjoy the absolute best in my record collection. SX137's management
wants me to do my thing to the fullest from the abstract to the funky. The
space is pure L.E.S. style and has impressed everyone who has seen it. Come
to check the artwork that is displayed and is changed every few months.

Excursions @ Karma
A pleasurable trip (around the wide world and variations of soulful jazzy
music)
The concept of taking an excursion is essentially to take a trip away from
the familiar. Getting away from the familiar and into something different
and exciting is the reason why most people relocate to New York. But New
York and its nightlife, for lack of a better word, has gotten homogeneous…
every venue having the same type of party, the "Hip Hop/R&B/Reggae/Classics"
party. Almost overnight, New York and its nightlife became predictable,
stagnant, standardized, and oversaturated with the same type of party, all
over town. That is not the vibe that existed that enticed me move to, live,
and enjoy life in New York.
I relocated to New York in 1992 and caught the tail end of golden eras that
embraced parties like Soul Kitchen and Giant Step. These were the exclusive
parties where you found the most funky, the most free, the most open-minded
international and cosmopolitan crowds in New York City's thrilling nightlife.
How's the crowd you ask? Authentic.
Excursions continues the tradition of challenging party people to go out to
hear DJs who can take you for a musical excursion into sounds that feel so
good that it doesn't matter whether or not you know the words to the songs.
Trust us, there are plenty of DJs out there who will gladly play all of your
hit tunes on demand, but please, allow us to offer you a night that will
broaden your scope, wake up your musical sensibilities, and leave you feeling
fresh and hopeful that originality and thoughtful creativity still counts for
something.
Excursions will not let you forget that DJs are the ambassadors of new music
to your ears. It is the questionably sane DJ, who scour the shops and street
vendors, who "borrow" records from our uncles and aunts, who travel,
sometimes across the planet to find those rare and precious musical gems to
play for ears that long for the invigorating feeling of discovering different
types of songs and ideas. We work hard to do what looks easy but sounds
amazing.
Come out to enjoy simply the best soul/jazz based music on the planet earth
with a DJ who travels the globe and collects tunes with the thought of
sharing them with you in mind. Expect soul, jazz, rhythm & blues, latin
jazz, afro beats, thugless hip hop, drum & bass, 2-step, abstract, brazilian,
eclectronic, paradise garage vibes, and every variation thereof. If it truly
is music that moves you, then you just might have found the excursion that
you've been looking for.
Be safe, be smart, be aware, and if come hear some new and exciting music.
