    Greetings,

    A big thanks to Mr. Scruff for the mix he contributed to the show.
    Response was so positive, that I'm considering running another hour
    sometime in the near future. If you missed it, don't despair - it's
    up now and ready to tickle your auditory nerves. While you're
    listening, why not visit http://www.mrscruff.com and download a
    screen saver or purchase a coffee mug?

    AREA 2 CONTEST REMINDER:
    Response to our Area 2 essay contest has been a bit underwhelming, so
    I'll relax the rules a bit. Simply write a short note to
    freefallradio@yahoo.com, stating why you want to attend Area 2 on the
    14th. It's a great lineup of Moby, David Bowie, Busta Rhymes, Blue
    Man Group and Ash. Spinning in the DJ tent: Dieselboy, The
    Avalanches, DJ Dan, DJ Tiesto, DJ Tim Skinner and John Digweed. Plus,
    it's a perfect reason to call in sick to work and enjoy the great
    outdoors of Mountain View. Deadline is Friday, August 9th.
    ~~~~~
    New music this week:
    Schneider TM: "Zoomer" - German producer Dirk Dresselhaus mixes
    glitch-hop with melodic vocals for a most eclectic sound. Anyone
    who's tasted fried ice cream will be able to relate....
    Soulparlor: "The Way We Talk" - I couldn't find out much about this
    release, save for the fact that it was written and produced by
    'Korben Dallas' & Tobias Muller and comes to us via the German Sense
    label. It's full of funky nu-jazz goodness that reminded me at times
    of the Wagon Cookin' album. Nice!
    Mark Rae: "Rae Road" - One half of Rae & Christian and Grand Central
    labelmeister does the solo thang and mashes up dancehall, hip-hop and
    some deep downtempo riddims. Funky.
    Tarwater: "Dwellers On The Threshold" - Take one part alternative
    rock, one part electronica and you something that sounds the
    Tindersticks having a drink with Frazier Chorus. Minor chords rule!
    Layo & Bushwacka: "Night Works" - Don't ask me why, but I was
    expecting another boombastic trance debacle when I received this, so
    you can imagine my surprise when I found it to be a fine mix of funk,
    jazzy house and electronic wizardry. Highly recommended.
    "Mali Music" - Just released domestically by Astralwerks, we once
    again find Blur's Damon Albarn out in search of all-that-is-not-Blur,
    this time via an excursion to Mali. Immersing himself in the
    country's culture, Albarn returned with hours of field recordings,
    then went into the studio to fashion an array of contemporary beats.
    The result is an interesting hybrid of Western Pop fused with the
    soul of the African continent. Guests include Toumani Diabate, Afel
    Bocoum & others. This is not the new Paul Simon album.
    =46inally, condolences to the friends and family of Oli R=F6sch who died
    in a motorcycle accident last week. Oli was the man behind Germany's
    Stereo Deluxe label, home to many of the artists we've featured on
    the show: The Funky Lowlives, Bobby Hughes, Mo' Horizons and many
    others. Peace be with you.
    Until next week, ciao for now...
    David
