These are just some of the highlights from this week's New Releases
List.
Not a big week for releases, but there are still some very choice titles
coming in. This week is definitely a case of quality over quantity.
Abstract/Downtempo/Leftfield: 8-Bit Construction Set, this record
features beats and sounds all programmed on old Atari and Commodore 64
computers (not new), Blue States new album on vinyl from XL, a neo-soul
influenced 4 Hero remix of Elisa's "Come Speak To Me" on promo 10", new
Mighty Quark album on Tokyo's Play Records, and two old Vive Le Fete CDs
we never had before on Surprise.
Beats 'N' Breaks: New mashup 12" that mixes DJ Kool classic with Michael
Jackson's "Billie Jean" (the flipside features Billy Ocean mix ed with
Outkast !!??), Felix Laband's "Donkey Rattle" 12" on Africa Dope Records
which is getting played by Mr. Scruff and Mixmaster Morris, and a new
Skylab 7" on Tummy Touch.
Drum & Bass: Finished copies of the Hive & Juju 12" on Violence, new
Industry 12" by Influx Datum & Narcosis, new Kosheen 12" called "Harder"
with dnb mixes from Decoder & Substance (2/3 of Kosheen) and Tech Itch,
plus some restocks on the Blazing Squad single with the Origin Unknown
remix.
Hip Hop: New Aim 12" on Grand Central, limited promo 12"s of
Blackalicious' "Make You Feel That Way" with a new Three Kings remix, DJ
Chrome teams up with Peop Love and Planet Asia on a new 12" from
Germany's Solid Pack Records, the recent S.M.P. single (feat Pacewon) is
back in, and a new Snoop Dogg 12" from Germany called "Undercova Funk"
(Bootsy Collins, Fred Wesley and EWF are all on the 12" too).
House: New Gus Gus album out on Underwater, new Kango 12" on Trailer
Park, white hot on promo the latest Physic's single "My Love" featuring
remixes from Fresh & Low is finally released (a Groove Dis exclusive!),
very nice house remixes of Swing Out Sister's "Alpine Crossing", and a
new Ibiza Annual compilation CD from Ministry Of Sound.
Nu Jazz/Broken Beat: Omoa Music's Ayro 12" back in stock this week (and
look for a brand new Omoa 12" in just a few weeks), Ms. Dynamite gets a
killer Osunlade remix on her new 12", new remixes of the Brazilian
classic "So Tinha.." done by Sepia on Lifeline, the excellent "One"
album by Universal Funk is now finally in stock on vinyl, last week's
Neroli single "Basic Laws Vol. 2" featuring Nubian Mindz should actually
come in this week, very nice new EP from Sonic 360 called "Beautiful
Sunset Airport #1" with cuts by Barrio Jazz Gang and Ciudad Feliz, the
excellent "Companionship" compilation from April Records (with a who's
who of Scandinavian house and jazz artists), and the excellent Local
People EP from Australia featuring some broken beat, some jazzy house
and some nice chill out tracks.
2-Step/UK Garage: Boniface's "Cheeky" mixed by Todd Edwards and
originally produced by Adam F.
Other: New issue of DJ Mag.
