STYLIN - Rare grooves, hi-tech jazz and other worldly fusions
Friday afternoons 12-2pm RRR 102.7FM, Melbourne
Live online - http://www.rrr.org.au/index2.html (see below for times)

    Hello all

Phew! Radiothon is over, and my heartfelt thanks go out to all of you who
contributed to keep RRR and Stylin on the airwaves for another year. Don't
forget to give your subscription a good workout with discounts and on-air
giveaways. To show my gratitude, I promise not to talk so much this week.

Well, maybe a little bit of talking with my Local People crew who are going
to join me in the studio this Friday. Lanu, Grantham (aka Suburban Lights),
Benjamin Tobias and I are each going to do a Trainspotters' Corner with our
tunes from the Local People EP (see the new section below). Even though
there are very few copies left in this country, we are doing a "launch" for
the EP at Revolver this Friday night so email back if you'd like to be on
the doorlist. Wolfgramm will be performing "This Time" and Matilda White and
Lanu will be performing "Psybossa", and we'll all be DJing alongside Str8Up
main man Kano so it should be a fun night.

Last week's Trainspotters Corner was inspired by Damian who called up to
support RRR. It was the link between some nice old instrumental Beastie Boys
and new Brazilian star Seu Jorge through producer Mario Caldato Jr. A couple
of the tunes from the Seu Jorge album have been highlights of my year, as
have been the rest of the tunes played last week, including some that were
favourites of other RRR subscribers too. Back to the new tunes this week,
including forthcoming material from Lightning Head (aka Bigga Bush from
Rockers Hifi), Kyoto Jazz Massive, Osunlade, Soul Jazz, Music & Movement vol
2, Xan Blacq, London Elektricity and more.

You can catch me before then at Open Sesame on Thursday night when
percussion master Elvis Aljus joins Kano and I once again. Congas, Timbales,
Bells and whistles combine with our solid jazz, beats and rhythms on the
turntables to create some serious dancefloor fun.

    until then
    Ennio Styles
