I'm a male vocalist in the Philadelphia, PA, USA metro with a wide range and
soulful sound and style (think Corey Glover, Terence Trent D'Arby
influences) looking to put together a project with a strong Jazz/Funk/R&B
sound. Nothing laid back, more driving. The best way to put it is I'd like
to take some of that old Atlantic Records sound - early Aretha, Ray Charles,
Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding and bring it into today: a mix of Jill
Scott/Heather Headley, Brand New Heavies, Craig David (it's good stuff),
Guru, and Thicke - to name a few. It should SIZZLE!
Right now I'm thinking guitar, bass (upright or bass guitar), horns
(trumpet, trombone), drums, and keys (organ or piano). I'm looking for a
guitarist who can lay down some bluesy, intricate rifts and a bass player
that can really establish a GROOVE, a la pentacostal gospel (I see this as
the real crux of the sound.
I have a definite plan, and am looking for serious people who want to make a
good living through music. Drop me an e-mail: tkholmes2@hotmail.com
