I'm happy to be the first (i think?)to mention Tony Allen's new full length
"Home Cooking" which has been making my heart go pitter patter for a few
    weeks.
What first raised my eyebrow was the sentiment in "Kindness": "Don't take my
kindness for weakness" which loops in my head all the time. You know the
caliber of beats to expect from everyone's favorite master drummer, and the
depth of the songs and quality of the guest spots are deeply satisfying. I
    have
a particular soft spot for Eska who makes a move on "What's Your Fashion",
    and
most of the MCing is really nice and doesn't sound strained toward any
particular image. There's only one flinch on the thing, on the title track
where the line "women know your craft, men know your women" seems to have an
    air
of dismissal toward the great talents of our brothers in the culinary arts
    and
home kitchens. But overwhelmingly, it's deep, light in spirit, and really
appeals to the peace-loving sensibilities. ("Stop it! Puts your guns and
bullets back in your pocket.") All our world leaders really need is to have
    a
big dinner together with a lovely merlot, a nice big blunt, and a copy of
    this
album, and "everyting goin' to be good for you."
