Other than my own curiosity, I know this has nothing to do with anything, but.... I heard this track on the radio last night by Tony Allen called 'Asiko'.... After hearing the first minute or so I instantly recognized the guitar, drum, and bass line as the same instrumentation Jay Dee utilizes on the Common track 'Heat' from 'Like Water for Chocolate'. Now, here's what i'm curious about. Which came first? Tony Allen's 'Black Voices' which 'Asiko' appears, was released in 1999 -- the same year 'Like Water for Chocolate' came out. Is Jay Dee sampling Tony Allen or is it vice versa?
Maybe someone knows?
Any help would be most appreciated!
