well - if you're into CDs (and some select vinyl ... small but decent
selection) then check out Park Avenue CDs in the Winter Park Area
near Rollins College.
There really aren't any vinyl shops in Orlando anymore focusing on
downtempo/AJ sounds.
However, for used vinyl Rock and Roll Heaven in the Antique Row area
is an essential stop. Prince Paul, DJ Spinna, King Britt, Cut
Chemist, Tim "Love" Lee, and Mr. Scruff are just some of the folks
that frequent this wax haven when in town.
As far as club nights go, Phat N Jazzy on every Tuesday at The Social
in downtown Orlando is a must. Jazzy downtempo, jazzy hip hop, jazzy
jazzy jazzy is the word there.
Knock Knock in downtown also has occasional cool nights ... find out
when J Marley is spinning there (think he opens the spot on Saturdays
and plays some Thursdays).
Also, if you're into cool deep house music, check out AKA Lounge
(downtown) on the weekends. The monthly Holy Frijoles night is
happening again on Friday December 27 with Brett Johnson and Q-Burns
Abstract Message.
Pick up an Orlando Weekly which is available almost anywhere for a
complete schedule of stuff happening and things to do ...
Oh - and if you're staying out by Disney then you really need to get
out of Kissimmee and into Orlando proper ...
Let me know if you need anything else ---
regards!
