I actually liked Duplaix's DJ Kicks selection very much. In fact, some
tunes that I've heard before but never knew the artists/tunes info were
on it (tunes from Waiwan and Hopper, especially), plus some tasty treats
from the likes of Shawn Lee and others.
I was sent the CD, but actually went out and bought the last vinyl copy
at the local record store. No Hopper or Waiwan, but cuts like Nepa All
Star's "The Way," the Shawn Lee tune, and others were worth the price
(plus it's nice to have them unmixed).
Any other thoughts on Duplaix's take? Like Lynne, I did thought that the
vocoder sounds throughout the recording were a bit much.
