I'm sure some of us can be considered "experts" in
    this.

I was, and still am, a huge fan of the productions of
Trevor Horn, especially Art Of Noise, who are probably
one of my biggest influences when it comes to my own
music. "Beat Box" was the song that did it for me. I
remember being 12, living in Honolulu, already
becoming a fan of rap music, when this song started
booming out on MTV (whom I believe only aired this
    video once).

For a short time, everything that came from Trevor
Horn, or Zang Tuum Tumb Records, I bought. AoN,
Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Progaganda, Anne Pigalle,
Andrew Poppy, Das Psych Oh Rangers, and most of it
great. I think ZTT enhanced what a remix could (and
should) be, it wasn't an extended mix or a new mix
altogether, but completely turning a song inside out
    and creating something new.

On an unrelated note, I want to thank the list for the
Charles Webster recommendation. Kept on seeing his
name pop up, and bought the LP on that basis alone.
    Like it a lot.
