I don't think that it's so much nostalgia as much as it is to just
witness the weaving of intricate threads--to find out what binds us all.
I'm delighted to know that many of us seem to have similar eclectic
tastes, as well as disallowing boundaries. Doesn't matter if it's go-go
with Chuck Brown, or synth-pop with the likes of ABC and Duran Duran
(admit it...you knew you loved it!); the raw feel of Prince, or the
underrated sounds of Oingo Boingo and The Specials.
Far from being nolstagic, I think it's actually different strands that
leads to what we now know as "acid jazz."
It's almost analogous to the 60s, in which those who've actually
experienced the music of that decade could tell you that the creativity
of music from the 70s, 80s, or even now....owed a great deal to that
time.
And so too, do we owe a great deal of what made acid jazz to the 80s.
And since many listers here grew up with that sort of music during that
time, it's good to see part of what brings up all together to the here
and now.
And, dare I add, it sure is fun to watch!
