As an artist I can relate and agree with the first post.

When someone says "Lounge" I immediately think of the tall slender girl
holding a martini glass, or something like the new GStone release. There
is no way that image will go wrong. It's nice but also a safe bet in my
    opinion.
The vector images, Hed Kandi style, is another that others are jumping
    on.

The use of photographs that are simple and clean with a basic font in
about 14pt laying across or just below seem to also be a safe bet.

One of my favorite album covers was on the Tummy Touch label by a group
called "Mescalito" the album was "One Path in a Million"

The cover art featured a picture of an old wall with a small run down
window in the bottom right hand corner. I'm assuming the colors were
tweaked a bit as the wall was bright teal with highlights of terracotta.
The font looked as if it were scrapped and worn. The inner cover showed
the rest of the building, a view from inside looking out and a picture
of the two artists who looked beat up and mangled.

I've also always enjoyed the art and photography by the Germany label
"Elektrolux" which inspired my recent work for Balance. The art on
Elektrolux truly fits the music, deep, serious, moody, sophisticated.
There are some beautiful downtempo/ambient-jazz tracks all over the
place on Elektrolux for those who may have passed them by: Sushi Club,
JFC, Fresh Moods, Index ID, Insect Jazz.just to name a few...
