I'm surprised you chose Black Blood's 'Jesus is my brother' over any number
of tracks on their '76 Polydor LP 'Amanda,' 'Wela Wela (Black Blood's
nightmare' for instance. Anyway, my favourite afrofunk/afrobeat tunes of
    the moment are the following:

1.Max B--Bananaticoco Part I--Virgo (Spanish, I believe, but contains one of
    my all-time favourite basslines)
2.?--Nessa--Dupree (Anyone know about this Canadian label? I know of two
Depree releases: an anonymous Brazilian fusion 45 and this ridiculously deep
and also anonymous afrofunk 45, but that's it, and there's zero information
    on the 'net...)
    3.Manu Dibango--Pepe Soup--London
    4.Black Soul--Africa Africa--Vogue
5.Antibalas--N.E.S.T.A--Afrosound (Can't wait for the new LP!)

I'm also a big fan of Afrobeat!!!!
and yes, I do mix tracks like "Opposite" by Fela and "New Bell" by Mano
Dibango with Afro House like Dennis Ferrer, Osunlade, MAW, Ron Trent stuff,
    Africanism, Chateau Flight, etc.
Here's my TOP 10 old skool Afrobeat:

      1) Manu Dibango- New Bell (Atlantic)
      2) Fela Kuti- Expensive Shit (MCA)
      3) Hugh Masekela- Dyambo (motown)
      4) Black Blood- Jesus is my brother (Mainstream)
      5) Mombassa 2- Yenyeri (?)
      6) The Aquarians- Bayu- Bayu (Universal City)
      7) Fela Kuti- Opposite (Celluloid)
      8) Lafayette Afro Rock Band- Hihache (Editions Makossa)
      9) Manu Dibango- Soul Makossa disco 12" (Fiesta/ France)
      10) Oneness of Juju- Every which way but Loose 12" (Karma Sutra)

What are your faves..... of the old skool & nu skool variety????

I'd alson Mention Tony Allen, Femi Kuti, Antibalas, Dennis Ferrer,
Africanism, Ron Trent, Soul Ascendants, Faze Action, Osunlade, and
Liberacion (our shameless promotion) as nu skool afrobeat.
