Dancing to hard bop is a pleasure too many never have, so it's nice to see
the interest. Check out Blakey's version of 'A Night In Tunisia' from the
LP of the same title Blue Note. A different line-up than Drum Suite,
granted, but Blackey's solos are blazing and educated dancers will recognise
Lee Morgan's blissful trumpet solo from its sampling on UFO's 'Loud
Minority.' Also, check out the two percussion only tracks--'Nothing But The
Soul' and 'Message From Kenya'--on Horace Silver's untitled Blue Note LP
(BLP 1520). They feature Art Blakey and a pre-'Sorcery' Sabu playing off
each other to devastating effect. Hope this helps!

Subject: Art Blakey's Drum Suite Lp
Hi all,
I've been listening to Art Blakey's Drum Suite thing (1957 i think),
which i highly recommend to anybody after some dancefloor latin-
jazz! Anyway wanted to ask if any of you know anything about Ray
Bryant, the pianist on it. He comes out with some really wicked
cuban-type lines, but still really bluesy. Its also got Oscar
Pettiford on bass. Anyone recommend anything else in the same
vein?
laters
Tom
