Various - Sounds From The Verve Hi Fi -- Compiled
By Thievery Corporation [VERVE]
The long-promised Thievery Corporation compilation on
Verve will be out Jan. 29.
This album is a collection of Verve-released material
the duo came up with while digging through their own
collection. As one would expect from these lounge
mavens, there are bossa nova songs from Stan Getz and
Luis Bonfa, Sergio Mendez and Brazil 66, as well as
Astrid Gilberto's rare version of the Doors' "Light My
Fire." The album embraces a variety of Latin jazz
styles as well as a few straight-ahead tracks -
featuring Chico Hamilton and Wynton Kelly - and even a
track featuring folk singer Richie Havens on sitar.
