This week's new entries include two upcoming releases from the
Thievery Corporation's Eighteenth St. Lounge label: "Sounds From The
Verve Hi-Fi" finds Eric and Rob digging through the vaults at Verve
in search of classic tracks with that bossa-lounge beat. Included in
this compilation are names such as Cal Tjader, Willie Bobo, Chico
Hamilton, Stan Getz and 11 others. "Delights From The Garden" is the
debut album from Desmond Williams and is a pleasant
Caribbean-flavored outing that's largely instrumental and bound to
conjure up visions of umbrella-laden cocktails.
We also have a fabulous live set from the Cinematic Orchestra
recorded last year at the Vancouver Jazz Festival that features
material from their upcoming Ninja Tune album. Expect to hear bits
and pieces in the weeks to come.
"Beautiful Tomorrow" from Blue Six is a sweet selection of jazzy
house from the folks at Naked Music and may be one of their finest
releases to date. Of course, we'll be digging deeper into the new
albums and EPs we dropped last week and there will undoubtedly be a
few surprises tossed in as well.
Ciao for now,
David
