Gilles Peterson's worldwide airs on KCRW 89.9 in L.A. on Saturdays at
11pm. You can listen to the show either on www.kcrw.org, or when it
originally runs on Radio 1 at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/.
Not knowing much about radio, I do suspect it boils down to $$$'s. KCRW
gets a lot of funding through listener and local business support.

Subject: [sisterdjs] syndicated radio shows?
Does anyone have any experience trying to convince a radio station to
air a
syndicated a radio show? I was chatting with my good friend vikter
duplaix
tonight (he walked in just as i was dropping "That Night"...I didn't
even see
him there. It was pretty funny. =) and we were lamenting the sorry
state of
things and he had an ingenious idea: get Gilles Peterson syndicated on
a local
station.
We have a good free-form college station but they probably couldn't
afford it,
and a "college" public radio station that would be appropriate and has
carried
some really fascinating shows in the past, but in recent years has
switched to a
all-alterna-folk-all-the-time format. but the listening demographic
wants desperately to be soulful and diverse.
any advice on how to make a pitch, how to find out pricing and
anticipated
audience, bascially how to make it happen, would be GREATLY apprciated.
I
understand it airs somewhere in LA...any info? c'mon you radio DJs,
help a
sister out!
