Goodies for tonight's program include the soundtrack to HBO's "Six
Feet Under," featuring two remixes of Thomas Newman's haunting title
theme - one by Rae & Christian, the other by Photek....Counterpoint
has released a teaser for their upcoming CD, "Afrika Underground:
Jazz Funk & Fusion Under Apartheid" - a remix of a track we featured
last week - Pacific Express' "The Way It Used To Be," re-worked by
Daz-I-Kue and Kaidi Tatham - moonlighting as Misa Negra. Included is
a bonus jazz-funk killa from Pacific Express that will not be
available on the album. Speaking of Kaidi, his "Agent K" album should
be arriving any day now, but until then, we'll continue to drop some
advance trax from this very funky collection....A package from NY's
Codek label arrived this afternoon, containing the most excellent
Organic Grooves album and several other titles that I'm listening to
as I write.....lots of nice stuff to sort out here...."If I Were
Prince" also showed up today and I found myself smiling and laughing
out loud at some of the creative license taken by Capitol K, Broadway
Project, Hefner (the band), Blue States and others in their
interpretations of the Artist's more electric material.....Eclectic
is also a good word to describe "Humble - 12 Cuts of the Pie," a
retrospective of the Humble Records' catalog, with material ranging
from mellow tropical to Asian dub to broken beat - all of them weird
and wonderful....

Feb. 5, with additional live performances by Blue States and Nicola
