Greetings!
As I hinted at last time, KUSF is back up on the Net via Live365.
We're still working out a few bugs, so currently you can listen to
FreeFall live, in breathtaking mono at:
http://www.live365.com/stations/kusf. However, our rebroadcasts are
still in high quality stereo and can be accessed via the URLs at the
bottom of the page.
We dip into the goodie bag this week and come up with......
Nightmares On Wax - a new 4-track EP on Warp appears evenly divided
between lazy downtempo lounge and lite hip-hop. It's not grabbing me
by the short and curlies yet, but maybe in time....
Jazzanova: "Soon" mixes Pts. 1 & 2 - the second single from the
massive "In Between" album gets the re-rub from A Touch Of Jazz,
*Domu* and P Smoovah.....sublime.
V/A: "Companionship" - It seems as if every other record in the past
several weeks has come from Scandinavia - a refreshing turn of events
that has resulted in some outstanding music both new and old. April
Records drops this collection of nu jazz from Sweden, Denmark and
Norway on August 5th and is well-worth seeking out. Highlights
include tracks from Swell Session, Koop, Ernesto's, Universal Funk,
Butti49 and others.
Dubblestandart: "Streets Of Dub" - More of that heavy, heavy monster
sound from Vienna. Dubblestandart have been the backing band for
Dillinger, Lee Perry and others, so you know they've honed their
chops with the best. "Streets Of Dub" showcases older and more recent
material remixed by Mad Professor, Waldeck, Vienna Scientist, Sugar B
and Rootsman. Deep.
V/A: "Select Cuts From Nation" - an electro-world music mash-up of
bhangra, drum & bass, flamenco, hip-hop, Navajo and South African
choir music from the likes of Asian Dub Foundation, Fun Da Mental,
Transglobal Underground, TJ Rehmi and many more. More flavors than
Taster's Choice international coffees!
Jimpster: "Domestic Science" - a few weeks old, but if you haven't
heard it, it's new to you. Jamie Odell gets a notch on the best of
2002 list for this beautiful collection of jazzy house grooves that's
a pleasure to listen to on the dancefloor, as well as in the living
room. Essential!
There are plenty of other tasty treats in store, so tune in live, or
catch us on the rebound next week.
Ciao for now!
David
