One option would be to have the artist become
taper-friendly and allow the fans to record her, at
least for a trial period. Sometimes a stealth
recording can be better than a board recording, and it
avoids stupid ass behavior from soundmen.
Other than that, I would definitely report this guy
in. But who do you report it to, his boss who fucks
14 year old girls to insure they get into the club
without him telling mom?
Sorry, but I think that behavior is full of crap. One
way to avoid this again is to tell other artists to
avoid working with this particular soundman. If he's
respectable in the industry, screw it.
It may cost a lot, but have artists also invest in
their own DAT decks. They are much cheaper than they
were 10 years ago, and for any artist who truly wants
to archive their career without relying on someone
else, this is the best bet, for them to take it in
their own hands.
