trust me, i used to work in a popular chain record store (not only a year
ago for extra cash) and i totally understand where you are at with the prior
comment. popular music continues to try and absorb the underground and
spits off much fouler yet blander byproduct.
i know there might be some jamiroquai fans out there but jamiroquai has
gotten bit by the hitmaker bug. sure it makes them money but it stopped
being that 'acid jazz' sound and it is now an entirely different
circumstance since they are a completely different band. in fact, i can't
stand any jamiroquai song that came out on the last album. from the chunky
obvious disco-inspired wonders to the faux bossa of the latest album, just
rubbish. i used to love this band to death at the start.
it's also impossible to compare lyrical depth in songs like 'manifest
destiny' to 'corner of the earth'. catchy or not, i feel they have
musically went backwards and it's most likely due to the the fact they'd
made some hits with their record and now their label wants more hits. being
on a major surely isn't everything you should strive for and it isn't a good
idea nowadays.
i think de la said it best, 'tommy boy wants another say no' on 'pass the
plugs'.
maybe i'm ignorant too though.
All the best,

yeah. Why?' I said, 'Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very
well.'"
