Soul Bossa Trio emerged in the Western hemisphere at the
beginning of the 90s with the Acid Jazz movement and,
thanks to their retro sound (Young/Holt Unlimited, The
Ramsey Lewis Trio), they instantly became the spearhead of
the Japanese invasion, travelling and performing all over the
World. After that fortunate experience they wanted to spend
more time in Japan and released a few albums only for the
Japanese market becoming one of the leading band of the
Brazilian/Jazz/Fusion scene... until now. Irma Records heard
this new album and immediately felt the greatness of it
deciding to license it for the World and to include two extra
cuts to its original Japanese release. The production of
Gonzalez Suzuki, the beautiful and smooth voice of Ann Sally
and the skill of all the musicians involved make this an album
not to be missed. Original compositions like Words of Love
and Rain Flow or covers like the title track Dolphins (Fred
Neil/Tim Buckley), She Loves You (Seawind), Naima (John
Coltrane), Light as a Feather (Flora Purim/Stanley Clarke) and
Dolphin Dance (Herbie Hancock) add an international feel to
it. The two extra tunes included on the album are: Butterfly,
here with an Incognito remix, good for the Nu-Jazz DJs, and
Sky with special guest on soprano saxophone Courtney Pine.
Soul Bossa Trio are back and you'll certainly appreciate that.
