    Hi

Given that lots of us hear listen to far more than electronic music and its
various strains, I thought I'd let you know about what will certainly be my
album of the year for 2002: Johnny Cash's "America IV: The Man Comes
Around". I've always kinda dug Johnny Cash, but never really raved about
him as I'm about to do. The words "instant classic" do not do justice to
the power that is felt on this album.

Among the covers found on this record are a duet of "Bridge Over Troubled
Water" with Fiona Apple (GOOD duet, not one of those crappy Santana starfest
extravaganzas), a moving duet of the Hank Williams classic " I'm so
Lonesome I Could Cry" with fellow sad-bastard Nick Cave, and searing
    renditions of:

    -The Beatles' "In My Life"
-an AWESOME version of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt"
    -a so-so novelty-ish cover of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus"
-Roberta Flack's "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face"
-a great version of the Eagles' "Desperado"

Finally, the highlight of the record is a completely jaw-dropping cover of
    Sting's "I Hung My Head". The song's a first person narrative of a man's
remorse at having shot someone in cold blood, told while facing the death
penalty. Goosebumps whenever I listen to it, no kidding.

The only weak point is a cover of "Danny Boy", which is actually quite good.
I just find the whole idea of covering that song super cheesy.

Prediction: This one's definitely winning a Grammy (I know, who cares) for
Johnny Cash; I can't possibly imagine anyone putting out something better
this year, ESPECIALLY in Country music.

    Stimp
