    Greetings,

=46irst, a big thanks to Tomas Palermo for sitting in last week and
doing such a great show. You can check out his playlist below and
hear all the tracks by visiting our usual address at Live365.com.

This week my special guests will the members of Jazzanova and Koop,
both of whom are DJing their way across the country and delighting
fans wherever they land. If you're listening live, expect them to hit
the airwaves around 10:30 pm PT. I just returned from the show at
Ruby Skye, where I ran into Tom Thump, Ms. E, Mike B, DJ Fluid and J.
Boogie, among others. Mangus (Koop) and the Jazzanova crew played
some excellent tunes and a fine time was had by all.

There are more special treats lined up in the coming weeks in the way
of guest DJ sets. Some terrific mixes from Idiom Creak, Steinski,
Lightning Head (& other artists from the Sonar Kollektiv posse) will
be coming your way. Today I received confirmation that Seelenluft
(aka Beat Sol=E8r) will be hitting the studio to whip up something
tasty for the FreeFall audience, so make to check this newsletter
    weekly for scheduling information.

Musically, there's an embarrassment of riches that I can't wait to
share with everyone. Here's a taste of what's to come tonight and in
    the weeks ahead:

Blaze: "Spiritually Speaking" - For nearly 20 years, the production
team of Josh Milan and Kevin Hedge have been responsible for some of
the most soulful house and garage anthems ever to come out of New
York (and New Jersey). Their fifth album may be their most realized
to date and in a perfect world, would be all over urban radio from
    coast-to-coast. One of the year's best - don't miss.

Thievery Corporation: "The Richest Man In Babylon" - We've had this
on CD-R for a couple of months, but now the real deal has arrived.
Rob Garza and Eric Hilton have concocted together a fine global
popourri that reaches from Africa to the Middle East to Jamaica and
beyond. As a bonus, the CD package comes with a book of stunning
black & white photos, featuring people and places from the third
world at work, play and just.....being there. Look for them on tour
in Europe and the U.S. during October & November.

Tony Allen: "HomeCooking" - The celebrated African drummer returns
with an outstanding new disc that falls somewhere between his classic
work with Fela Kuti and the more left-field experimentation of last
year's "Psyco On Da Bus." Blur's Damon Albarn might seem an unlikely
choice for a guest appearance, had it not been for the excellent
"Mali Music" project that he released a few months ago. Highly
    recommended.

Dzihan & Kamien: "Gran Riserva" - what is it about Vienna and great
music? D&K return with their second collection of original material
and once again, every track is a winner. Downtempo jazz, funk and
house all share the spotlight, making it easy to program tunes for
the dancefloor or the living room. Dope.

Phil Parnell - "Do Your Living In The Night" - Jazz pianist Phil
Parnell is originally from New Orleans, but moved to London, where he
eventually hooked up with Matthew Herbert. If you caught the "Bodily
=46unctions" tour last year, you'll remember Phil's stunning piano solo
on "The Audience" and his solid keyboard work that was the lynchpin
for much of the show. Although there's no mention in the press
release, I'm guessing that Mr. Herbert produced some, if not all of
"Do Your Living...." as his signature sound is ubiquitous throughout.
=46or electronica fans who prefer more music than glitch.

Lightning Head: "Studio Don" - Lightning Head is the nom de plume for
Glyn "Bigga" Bush - producer extraordinaire and former member of
Rockers' Hi-Fi, who has emerged from his country home in Dorset with
these thirteen tracks recorded for Germany's Best Seven label. A very
funky affair, "Studio Don" is rife with elements of dub, Latin,
Caribbean steel drums, soca, batucada and more. This may be a little
difficult to track down, so you might want to check the Sonar
Kollektiv site (www.sonarkollektiv.de) for more info.

    V/A: "2000Black Presents The Good Good Vol. 2" - Ain't nothin' but a
West London party, y'all, with all the usual suspects throwin' down:
Domu, I.G. Culture, Seiji, Phil Asher, Mark De Clive-Lowe, etc. Of
all the recent compilations from the Bugz In The Attic crew and
friends, this may be the strongest yet. Avid 12" buyers will most
likely have the Afro Force, Domu and Micatone tracks, but it's nice
to have them as part of this collection anyway.

That's all I have time for this week, but there's plenty more to
    come....ciao for now!

    David
