The new version of "It Dont Mean a Thing was most likely the tune "Doo Uap,
Doo Uap, Doo Uap, Doo Uap", by the artist Gabin. I actually started out as
a jazz dance/swing dj, and have incorporated lots of the swinging style into
my sets lately...Mr. Scruff has several tunes on all three of his albums
that swing pretty hard, and there is one Red Snapper tune from 'Making
Bones' that tears it up. Also, if you can dig up anything by Jazz Con
Bazz, they have some killer tunes. Heck, I've even spun some Amon Tobin and
Mocean Worker into a set before. Watching people lindy hop to that is
mindblowing. Email me, and I'll send you a chart.

Hi all,
I posted part of this on the Soundlounge Yahoo list so I thought I'd throw it at you guys too.
Here it is...
...Also, I was wondering if anyone can suggest any artists or recordings that have that swinging sound that I witnessed a full set of when I went to Tokyo in October and caught UFO's residency at Blue. Raphael was there although his set was not nearly as impressive as this other guy's. (He's not much of mixer, I'm afraid. At least not that night.) I forget the other fellow's name. I think he was from some crew in Tokyo. Something about Tokyo Soul Brothers #1. (I could be totally wrong as it was a while ago) But maaaaan! He was playing track after track after track of the swingingest jazz dance I've EVER heard. It's difficult to find out about this type of jazz though. Kinda Kenny Boland sounding but HEAVY. (And man, the Tokyo brothers were TEARING up the dancefloor. I couldn't even compete!)
I'm still trying to figure out if the stuff he was playing was old or new or (probably) both. I know he played a great version of 'Ain't Got That Swing' which I don't know who did but it was wicked. Of course, played UFO's Loud Minority. AWESOME!!! If anyone can suggest any recordings to pick up, it would be MUCH appreciated. I'm talking heavy heavy swinging jazz dance big band your feet can't help but move s#*t!!!
PEACE,
ad ease
