Hi
I think the ambiguity that is evident when attempting to classify this new
music into particular genres is quite acceptible. I think it only emphasizes
it emphasizes how innovative it is as well as make it limitless in the
directions it is and can go.
Why so much pressure to classify it into specific genres anyway? Personally,
I like the confusion in naming these genres, it should remind people that
music and musicians are not to be broken into sections. The industry
invented that. Just imagine, the 'broken beat' of today could end up sounding
a lot like classical in a few years (well, not really...but it could).
...broken-beat, future soul, futur-jazz, nujazz, nusoul, bossa-dub...
Call it whatever sounds good to you at the time, trust me we'll know what
you mean.
Peace
Claudio.
