Greetings,
We are truly excited about the year 2004 for many reasons. One is our
new contest, which we think may inspire a few others to tap into their
creative writing skills a bit.
Possibilities for the year 2004 are inspiring and exciting to us for
many reasons -- so we've devised a contest which we think may inspire
some of you, also. Tap into your creative writing skills a bit and let
us hear from you.
It's quite simple: Write a personal essay on music production. Examples
of possible themes would be:
Why did you start writing music?
What inspires you to write music?
What's the experience like for you to write a song?
Describe the ups and the downs of the process, or tell us how are you
developing as a musician/producer. Really, we're looking for anything
that refers to your personal experience as a producer.
Entries will be judged on the insight they provide into the creative
process and the skill of your description. Simply put, we are looking
for an essay that is entertaining and inspiring.
Here are the rules:
. US-based producers only (due to flight cost)
. Minimum 500 words.
. Please include title and full name of author.
. No changes in composition once submitted.
. Final submissions via email only.
. Citrona artists excluded.
. Submission deadline is April 30, 2004; winner to be announced May 15,
2004.
. Winner must confirm trip arrangements with Citrona one month in
advance of travel date.
Grand (and only!) prize: The winner will receive a 4 day-3 night trip to
Amelia Island FL. This includes air fare, room & board here with us, and
a weekend studio session. This collaboration will be for one song under
the alias of your choice. Citrona will release the song as a special MP3
download at a later time. We will also post the winning essay on
citrona.net so that everyone can read your work of art as well as
downloading your new song.
Please feel free to email us if you have any questions as we may learn a
few things by your questions that we may not have considered.
Also, to all of our dearest friends we've met here on the internet over
the years, you are invited to enter this contest too. You know that
we will be keeping our final judgment 100% unbiased.
Best of luck,
- Greg and Christina
