I have just returned from the annual KUSF Holiday Party where a good
time was had by all. We dined sumptuously on veggies, pizza, hummus,
vegan cheese, some very fried and sweet Chinese chicken thing, ice
cream, cake and of course, plenty o' booze.
Came home to find a nice package from Sunshine Enterprises in Vienna
that contained a dope new compilation called This Is How We Lounge -
selections from the label's roster reworked by some notable
producers: Fernando Paiva's "Orpheo Negro" gets a nice
broken-bossa-house re-rub from Seiji, the Solid Doctor takes Burdy's
"Doobie Dada" into a darker shade of hip hop, Jori Hulkkonen
converts Nigel Hayes' "Back Together" into a rubbery '80s jam (with
just a hint of Jacko) and Pulsinger turns Frankie Valentine's "O
'Chant" into an afro-disco-techno anthem. Additional tracks remixed
by Nicola Conte, Recloose, Nickodemus, Volcov and others are equally
as cool.
A reminder that next week begins our rewind of 2003, where we look
back at some of the year's best albums, singles and compilations.
Hope you can tune in.
Ciao for now,
David
