my 2 cents:
censorship of any kind is not ok. it does not matter how offensive the
material/sentiment is. censorship is particularly damaging when applied
to artistic expression. my fear lies in how one decides what exactly is
to be banned and who makes that decision. i even have trouble with many
of the current campus regulations against so-called "hate language" for
pecisely the same reasons. while i personally find the rampant
homophobia present in some dancehall and hip-hop completely disgusting,
i cannot condone limiting artistic discourse. my personal solution: i
don't buy it, play it, or support it in any fashion. others are free to
do what they may.
