London-based producer Alex Attias made his debut as a house Dj in late-eighties Lausanne (Switzerland). He soon became very influenced by jazz music and pioneered the Nu-Jazz sound through his residency on local radio Couleur 3, his editorial position within Vibrations magazine and the eclectic jazz nights he organized with Dj Jack O'Mollo.
Having built a serious sample/record collection, Alex Attias began his producing carreer with Patrick Duvoisin ( aka Rollercone) and soon produced tracks under the Bel Air Project moniker, a jazz-hardened duo formed of Attias and fellow producer Seb Khaler. Attias drew the attention of the Nu-jazz crowd with his first Bel Air Project releases : Jazz With Altitude on Corn Flex and Dark Jazzor on Parisian imprint Future Talk. Renowned Djs and producers such as Gilles Peterson or Dego MacFarlane kept on spinning the tracks earning Attias much respect form the new Londoner underground.
Alongside Bel Air Project, Attias launched several other combos such as Funkanova and Beatless which has Alex Attias collaborating with Talkin' Loud A&R, Paul Martin. He also produced music under the Mustang and Catalyst monikers. After moving to England, Attias focused on his solo career. His natural kinship with West-London's scene soon materialized by his releases on Main Squeeze, 2000 Black and Co-Operation. Whilst Djing allover Europe and in Japan, Attias maintained his prolific production pace signing remixes for Joakim Lone Octet, Tanzmuzik or Be Bop Dawg. For now on, Attias chose to put his remixing activities to a halt and to focus on his own Mustang album which should be out by the end of 2001. He also founded his own imprint : Visions.
