friends & neighbors,
a warm thanks to those of you who came out to share the music last
Tuesday... the beats were stewed to perfection and not too hot to burn the
roof of the mouth ... Big up to those who joined us online especially the
Bangalore Massive (aka soul selecta CN) who was rocking brooklyn beats at
7 am on earth's b-side :)
This coming Tuesday, I offer a special theme for the sound selections,
as a rebuttal to the very startling state of affairs these times bestow
upon us: Peace.
It's not new, or novel, nor is it a big march in front of some powerful
institution... but in these times I think we need as much peace as we can
find, and the first step towards effecting peace in the world as a whole
is feeling it within.
So I'm going to dig through the soundfiles and set the tone... you're
invited to come and kick back with me. I would invite George W but that
would probably just send a bunch of feds banging down my door... how did
that guy become our president, could someone elucidate ? I digress...
The point is, I got some more tasty beats this week, especially since I
just visited my storage room and pulled out some long absent rare and
funky latin, middle eastern, and african jointz from the vaults. I was
flipping through them and kept saying Oh ya! this one ! that one !
Additionally, I will prepare a tribute to conguero Mongo Santamaria, in
respect of his passing away last Saturday Feb 1.
