So, our first Assembly Line Thursday went off without a hitch, except that
MGA was completely overshadowed by the 2 bombass bands that went on with
us!!! Hate to say it but it's true... we just console ourselves by saying
we're new to the game and we're only now starting to gel as a unit...BUT
let me say it again... you have got to check out Naturez Dezign and Star
    69...

Now, Star 69 is going to perform again on Feb. 14th, that's Valentine's Day,
at the Temple Bar in Santa Monica... If you're in LA, I cannot think of
another show that's going to be better than this... u can say u saw them
    when....

As I have written before, Star 69 is three ultrafine girls, Stephanie
Alexander, Dawn Beckman, and Sy Smith... they sing and write all the
material... the background vox are tight... the harmonies are very VERY
jazzy and delicious... i guess the word that best describes it is...
    polish...!!!

But, even if i was blind, this would be my favorite band, just because of
the rhythm section... this is the second time I've heard them, and the
rhythm section was the same both times, so I assume they're going to play
with them more... It's two brothers, Tyler and Eric Coomes on drums and
bass, respectively... both have major credits; for instance, Eric played
bass on releases from J-Live, Lettuce, (John Scofield, Fred Wesley, Neil
Evans) Truth Hurts (Dr. Dre) and Talib Kweli's Quality...

So, the Coomes brothers and the girls do this thing on George Gershwin's
"Summertime" that... well, I swear I'm gonna sneak a tape recorder down to
the club to figure it out... it is HOT!!!

Naturez Dezign's show is a little rougher and rawer, but we know u like it
like that! ND has the stage presence, the tighteness, the strong material,
the songs that really grow on ya... how about "Rock Bottom" and "Two Years?"
The great thing about both of these bands is the more u see 'em, the more
times you hear the material, the more u like 'em...

Coming next Thursday, the 13th, it'll be the MGA w. Ancestry of Sound, and
please mark Feb. 20th, as the MGA warms up for the great band 4th AVENUE
    JONES!!!
