Jazzpolice never on holiday,
so Club Wahoo!/Leftside boys bring you the latest news.
First, because it’s the sunny season of bikinis I’m offering free
Brazilian wax for everyone ... ;D
Please pursue to the following address to find out more about this
‘special’ treatment that lasts for 80 min...photos included...
http://www.leftofcentre.de/
Second, we finally received the chart from our guy in Turku, Dj Felix.
He’ll remind you how the Wahoo! sounded on May the 31st. It was a wicked
night and reading his list you may get a glance of it. Felix got people
on the floor already early in the evening with his FAT jazz from the
Soviet Union – left of Helsinki that is...
Third, from the resident front Henkka lists music rotating on the
turntables at the end of the season party on the 14.6. Me myself and I
have a burning selection of records that I’m handling with oven mitts
‘cause they’re burning from desire to please the Wahoo! crowd as soon as
possible.
Btw, Club Wahoo! starts again on the 2nd of August. Upcoming events
include the first ever live gig by the great 'Five Corners Quintet' out of
Helsinki feat. the master Eero Koivistoinen on sax. See what has been said
about their first single:
"This pentagonal shaped ensemble follow hot on the heels of fellow Jazz
dancing Finns with their debut offering; a couple of skilfully instrumented
jazz-floor cuts. "Trading Eights" a cut probably not inspired by small time
weed dealing, sees impassioned keys, wafting percussion, impressive sax and
intertwined jumping trumpet set dancers in a spin. "Blueprint" sets out
their own plan for dancefloor domination, courtesy of beautiful melancholic
keys, heated percussion, a river-like running bass and a hopeful bright
sax." - Pitch Adjust -
Finally, Left of Helsinki chart provides a cool breeze to hot summer's
day.
Pleasant summer for everyone
Sampsa (on behalf of the Helsinki Leftside Ensemble)
