    NEWS
I've ben really squeezed these last few weeks with other priorities.
Someday, I'll have a staff to delegate my duties to. As it is, things
are simmering on the back burner. Reviews are being worked on, and my
June picks are still in the works. Expect at least another week before
the reviews are ready for prime-time, as I'll be quite taxed this week
    as well.
    LAST WEEK'S SHOW NOW ONLINE
Last week's show, featuring the duo West of Centre, is now online.
Please visit the web site http://urbanlandscapesshow.com for the audio
link and the playlist. Big thanks to Dave from Inspirit Music (and
one-half of West of Centre) for the goods.
THE URBAN LANDSCAPES GUEST MIX: RUSS DEWBURY
This week's Urban Landscapes Guest Mix will come from Russ Dewbury. In
addition to teaming up with Ben Mitchell on the new album "Rapping With
The Gods," he's also responsible for some dope compilations (including
the original "Jazz Bizniz" compilation from Counterpoint). He's also the
overseer of the long-running club night The Jazz Rooms (15 years and
counting). He's chosen a nice musical selection, so don't miss it.
    SOME PROGRAMMING NOTES
On June 13, I'll have a profile of Omoa Music recording artist Ayro
(pronounced "I-ro"). He's been causing quite a stir both with his
talked-about performance at the 2001 Detroit Music Festival, and his
music--both in creating originals such as "Drink" and "Let This" and in
completing remixes for the likes of Jazzanova and Fertile Ground. You
can hear the interview, as well as his music, when the profile drops.
On the last two Fridays in June (June 20 & 27), the Halfway Rewind
Special kicks in with look back at 2003 thus far. Remember that the
albums will be featured on June 20, and the singles/EPs a week later.
    SOUL INVASION
For you locals in SLO, we're gonna do something different on Saturday
June 7. "Soul Invasion" will feature a mix of rare soul and rare grooves
to shake your rump to. Forget Motown...we're talking quite a bit of raw
soul that even your mommy and daddy might have never heard.
The gig will be at zPie downtown starting at 10pm. Cost is $3 at the
door, and DJs in rotation will include:
Malik Miko (Boo Boo Records, KCBX's "Night Train" show)
DJ Calyx (KCPR's "WEFUNK" & "Let Us Play")
    Velanche (KCPR's "Urban Landscapes")
We'll also have a thumping soundsystem at the ready, so take that last
plunge in time for the summer. Be there...it should be cool!
    THAT'S IT
A more proper circular will come soon. Til then, have a good week!
