STYLIN - Rare grooves, hi-tech jazz and other worldly fusions
Friday afternoons 12-2pm RRR 102.7FM, Melbourne
Live online - http://www.rrr.org.au/index2.html (see below for times)

    Hello all

Deep record-digger Zeljko Kerleta again featured on last week's
Trainspotters' Corner, this time with "Summer's Gone", one of my favourite
tunes from his 2001 album "Space Runner". It doesn't seem so surprising that
someone who has put together 2 heavy compilations of Polish jazz might
consider sampling Polish jazz records too. The hypnotic bass and guitar loop
came from a 1983 record by legendary trumpeter Tomasz Stanko.

Meanwhile, it will be a great privilege to finally meet Russ Dewbury this
weekend when he comes to town to play at Honkytonks on Sunday night. I have
been following Russ' compilations for BGP, Strut and Counterpoint for many
years as well as checking his charts and reading about his legendary Jazz
Rooms sessions which are now 11 years strong(!) in Brighton, UK. More
recently I have been checking Russ' own "Nu Jazz Spectrum" radio show and
spinning tunes from his new production project with Ben Mitchell, called
Mitchell & Dewbury. Hopefully we'll see you out on Sunday night for this
rare treat, but you can also catch a preview on today's Stylin with a
    special guest mix from Russ.
