    >Not sure where it's showing but the film "Cuidad de Dios" is a must-see...

That's "Cidade de Deus", if you want the original Brazilian (Português)
title, and not the, very similar, Spanish title. ;)

I saw it back in 2002, and a few times earlier this year. It was one
of my top films for 2002, and I've played the hell out of the soundtrack
    for almost the last year...

    >although it has to be the most violent film I've ever witnessed...

Certainly violent, but there's much worse out there.

    >The cinematograpy is unbelievable...

Agreed. Same goes for the editing, acting (lots of superb non-actors),
screenplay (from the Paulo Lins novel), and direction by Meirelles.

    >as is the music (which is the latest Brazilian Beats compilation
    >on Mr. Bongo).

Er, no... that's Mr. Bongo using the film's success to market their
4th (?) volume of the Brazilian Beats series. The brilliant original
music is by Antonio Pinto and Ed Côrtes... along with classics from
Tim Maia, Hyldon, Wilson Simonal, Raul Seixas & Cartola... available
in the soundtrack section of better record stores everywhere. ;)
