I just want to echo Dave's comments. I think Plastiks is a great magazine
and the CD is always enjoyable. It's obviously a labor of love, chock full
of short interviews, reviews and such. It resembles a fanzine in some ways,
but it's pretty much essential reading for acid jazz, broken beat, nu jazz,
etc types. If we made our own magazine at Groove Dis it would probably be
just like Plastiks..

Subject: [acid-jazz] Plastiks magazine - the best nu jazz / broken beats mag
around
Hi List,
I just had to email everyone and let them know about Plastiks magazine. I'm
sure regular listees might have heard of the name.
It's put together by some quality people over in Antwerp, Belgium, but it's
all in English and the content is spot on. Plus there's an excellent free CD
on the cover of each issue. It's great cos all the writers are genuine,
there are some excellent in-depth reviews, and are all the interviews are
genuinely interesting. Personally it's the best magazine I've read - a cross
between Breakin Point and Straight No Chaser. And is a breath of fresh air
as we watch the demise of some of the bigger, more commercial orientated
mags.
Issue 61 features Carl Craig, Buscemi, King Britt, J Boogie, Klute,
Stateless, Stateless, DJ Spinna. Issue 60 features Danny Krivit, Gilles
Peterson, DJ Smash, Daniel Magg, Nas, Jephte Guillaume, EZ Rollers, Kaskade.
We started to stock it on our online shop at www.inspiritmusic.com/shop -
and if you buy Issue 61 we'll chuck in Issue 60 free of charge.
Oh, and I think Groove Dis carries the Mag as well for anyone based in the
states.
